Security Compass Advisory is Now Part of Kroll

Today is a very important day in the history of Security Compass: we are announcing the sale of our Security Compass Advisory (SC ADV) business to Kroll. This marks the culmination of 17 years of delivering cloud security, penetration testing, red team exercises, and emerging technology services, and I am thrilled by the opportunities this provides Security Compass and SC ADV customers and team members.

I started my time at Security Compass as a consultant and developer security trainer, working under the company’s co-founder, Nish Bhalla. So much of what I know about the industry came from working closely with customers, and our collective consulting knowledge was fundamental to building out our SD Elements and eLearning products in the years to come. The consultants who have joined us since then are top notch, and I have been honoured to work alongside them, even as I transitioned to being primarily focused on software. I certainly feel a sense of loss as those colleagues will be moving on, but that loss is eclipsed by excitement for the future of both Advisory and Security Compass.

The sale of our Advisory business represents a unique opportunity for our customers and team members. This divestiture completes the Security Compass transition to becoming a dedicated software company which began in 2020 with the separation of SC ADV under a separate brand.

The sale of SC Advisory enables us to be a focused software company, with all departments in the company aligned under one vision and mission, and a common set of objectives. This will allow us to increase investment in accelerating product development, which will improve our ability to service customers and help more organizations around the world build secure software.

To our customers and business partners: rest assured that nothing will change from the world-class service you’ve come to expect from us.

The SC ADV team is proud to have its own distinct vision: “A world where we can safely embrace new technology,” and mission: “Help our customers adopt new technology by identifying and minimizing cybersecurity risk.” With access to Kroll’s global customer base, complementary services capabilities including virtual CISO, managed security services, dark web monitoring, incident response, breach notification, and forensics, the SC ADV team can take significant steps forward in delivering on its vision and mission.

As part of a dedicated professional services company, SC ADV customers will have access to a broader range of complementary services both within and adjacent to cybersecurity, including regulatory compliance. Kroll’s data from real-world security incidents, breaches, and security monitoring will help inform and improve SC ADV’s offensive and defensive security offering.

Today, I would like to thank our loyal customers, employees, and Kroll for making this possible. Please join me in celebrating this important milestone in our history!
